The beginning |
At the first sports festival of Tettau, the thought of founding a band was born. In 1951, a questioning of the citizens of Tettau according to the foundation of a band was organized.
Already in 1952 time was come- approximately 15 musicians did show their ability. With a lot of enthusiasm they started practicing and earned a lot of success.
Despite the good development of the orchestra it threatened to close. To prevent this, the orchestra was taken over by the voluntary fire brigade of village. |

The new beginning |
At the beginning of the 70s, three of the musicians, who are still active, decided to take the skills of an instrument in their own hands. Along with teenagers from Frauendorf, the reshuffle of the band began. In 1980, they joined the community of the musicians from the DTSB of the former East Germany. In 1981, 25 musicians took part in a district championship in Cottbus for the first time and reached the first place.
1988, Tettau was the venue of the 20th district championship. They appeared with two bands and obtained the first and the second place in the young professionals- and adult sections. Already one year later, the band reached the first place at the play- offs in Treuenbrietzen and was promoted from the “Leistungsklasse” to the “Sonderklasse”.
During the first participation of the 10th GDR- championship in 1989, they obtained the 6th place. In the following year, the band was participant and organizer of the last GDR- championship of the “Schalmeienkapellen”. The third place was the gratitude for their efforts and the appreciation for their musically performance and good organization of the event in their hometown. |

The “Schalmeienorchester” |
With the reunification of the two German states, the members decided to found an independent club. At the foundation meeting in 1990, they got the name “Schalmeienorchester Tettau/ Frauendorf e.V.”.
In the following year they drove to the Czech Republic and afterwards to the gymnastic festival in Graz (Austria). They also were guests at the “Landesturnfest” in Unna and of the brass- band music festival in Münster as well as the “European Youth Music Festival” in Kopenhagen.
In 1992, they organized a music festival for the first time, to fit the occasion of the 40th birthday of the club.
In the year 2008, the music festival of the club took place for the 8th time. This traditional event is known all over the federal state boundaries and attracts many music lovers. In 2002 we celebrated their 50th birthday with a huge music festival. More than 500 musicians congratulated with a music show at the area of their orchestra. Thousands of visitors did worthy their many years' standing work.
Right now the club consists of 68 members. All of them are active musicians. At competitions, the club represents itself with 25 people. Predominant, children and teenagers are organized here. The average age is 22. |

We are one family |
It is not just the love to music, which creates a close bound between the members. Along with family members and friends, a lot of things get organized and practiced. All get along with each other and it does not matter if they are tall or small, old or young, a member or a friend of the orchestra. |

Music keeps young |
Besides the active members, the traditional band has found since the 40th birthday of the club. Former members did find a home here. |
